UNDERTOW HELP
Get your bass
where you want it.
Start here, then use the instruction manual for a closer look at every control.
A quick first session
- Insert Undertow on your bass track. In Logic Pro, use the Audio Unit version. In a VST3 host, choose VST3.
- Start with a factory tone and adjust the input level for your bass. Turn down your monitoring before auditioning unfamiliar settings.
- Set the low and high crossovers. Keep the lows firm, then add mid and high drive to taste. Use Blend to bring the clean engine signal back in.
- Use pre EQ to prepare the source and post EQ to place the finished tone in the mix. Save your own EQ or full-tone preset when you find a useful starting point.
- Check the final output meter. Output Safety catches sample peaks at your chosen ceiling. Keep listening to the mix and leave suitable headroom.
Kick sidechain
Send the kick drum to Undertow’s sidechain in your DAW. Choose an external detector on a low bell or shelf band, enable dynamics, and adjust threshold, ratio, maximum cut, attack and release while listening in the mix.
Mac installation
The Mac plugin is built as a universal Audio Unit and VST3 for Apple silicon and Intel. The installer places the formats in the system plugin folders. Close your audio hosts before installing, then reopen them and rescan if necessary. Use the downloads page for the current installer. Activate through Help → License & activation with the key from your purchase email. The current independent Mac release is not Apple notarized; macOS may require approval in Privacy & Security.
Something not showing up?
Check that your host supports the format you installed and rescan its plugin list. Logic uses Audio Units. VST3 hosts may need a fresh scan. The manual includes more troubleshooting and live-use notes.
Need a hand?
Use the 476 contact page. Include your operating system, DAW and Undertow version, and what happened. The plugin’s Help menu can copy basic diagnostics. Keep license keys out of public posts.
